The Kiley Family - {Kew Family Photographer}

Well we're one week into daylight savings and I think my body clock is finally starting to adjust! Summer is exciting because it means beautiful family portraits in the golden evening light, photographing Mum's in flowing sun dresses dancing with their children and creating beautiful memories for wonderful families.

My outdoor family sessions are booked for either just after sunrise, or the hour before sunset, because I'm all about that golden light.

I'm often asked which time is better, and I always say it's when you think you family will be at their best. However the more morning sessions I do, the more I love them. I think for really young kids they're better because the kids have more energy and are more accommodating in the morning, Plus, and this is a big plus, there's no racing against the sunset. Evening sessions are stunning and that warm golden light is amazing, but if a session is taking a bit longer, there's nothing I can do to stop that sun going down, I can't pay anyone for another 30 minutes of sunlight, when it's gone the session is done (I can't tell you how may times I've dreamed of being late to an evening session and arriving just as the sun has gone down and I've missed it completely!).

Here is the gorgeous Kiley Family, if you would like beautiful photographs of your family, please contact me!

What a joy it was to photograph Georgie, Andrew, Hendrix and Esmarelda on a cold Melbourne autumn morning. The sun peaked through the trees, as their family walked and played together in the gardens, and we created some priceless memories. What a privilege that this is my job!

I just want to touch on the importance of family photos, because I am also a Mother and I have been there, raising three kids under five.

In my experience, as a mother, having a young family is both wonderful and exhausting. You feel so blessed and so tired. Are you doing a good job? Are you making the right choices for your individual children that also works for your entire family? Should you try to get your career back? Your body back? Your sanity? Why can you no longer talk about politics because you’re all consumed with toilet training and snack making.
Who are you anymore?

I get it.

So with all of that, having your family professionally photographed is something you keep meaning to do but life is busy and you don’t get around to it. But trust me, you’re going to miss this, you’re going to want these days back and you’re going to wish you had beautiful photos of your family together. Photos of their little faces because they change so quickly. A beautiful portrait of your child is a gift not only for you, but for them. To remember their little faces as they grow. To compare photos of their own children with photos of them as a child. To remember how much their parents loved them, and how their family looked together. How you played together and loved each other.

Every single time I photograph a family they say, wow that was a lot of fun! I mix both portrait style photos with candid photos, they’re natural and beautiful. I let the kids be kids, crazy, fast and loud, or shy and quiet. The photos are of you and your family, exactly as you are now, and you’re perfect.

So take a look around, these are your best days, and you’re going to miss this.
